Applies to
Manufacturers and importers of notified appliances and equipment in India. Mandatory categories (as of 2026): air conditioners (split + window), refrigerators (frost-free + direct-cool), distribution transformers, ceiling fans, LED lamps, washing machines, geysers, deep freezers, microwave ovens, table fans, induction motors, pumps, and several industrial equipment categories. Voluntary categories: ovens, computers, ceiling fans (BLDC class), set-top boxes etc.

- 1- to 5-star scale; minimum threshold = 1 star.
- Mandatory categories cannot be sold without a valid BEE label.
- Star bands revised 2-3 yearly; manufacturers must re-test on revision.
